{"id":18,"date":"2008-09-23T17:08:49","date_gmt":"2008-09-23T23:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kaitystorm.com\/wp\/?p=18"},"modified":"2013-07-23T12:03:35","modified_gmt":"2013-07-23T18:03:35","slug":"review-the-snow-queen-by-mercedes-lackey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kaitystorm.com\/wp\/?p=18","title":{"rendered":"Review-The Snow Queen by Mercedes Lackey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lackey has a series called the 500 Kingdoms that has turned the traditional fairy tale type story on its ear.\u00a0 Taking those same fairy tales and twisting them through the Tradition.<\/p>\n<p>The Snow Queen is a tale of a lonely fairy Godmother who lives with Brownies and a spoiled young man she is trying to redeem.\u00a0 She helps those in her kingdom to avoid the bad ends they could be destined to meet.\u00a0 She watches her charges work through their own difficulties, and find herself actually involved in the tale when someone is posing as her and killing entire villages.\u00a0 She heads off to stop the imposter and meets her charges face to face.<\/p>\n<p>The novel was a lot of fun, a good read, and the cover is beautiful.\u00a0 While I enjoyed the book and all the wonderful fairy tale elements, I think I enjoyed a couple of the other books in the series more.\u00a0 There is one element in the others that is missing in this one&#8211;the romance that slowly builds in the other books with people growing towards each other.<\/p>\n<p>I will continue to read the series, but with this one being my least favorite.<\/p>\n<p>3 out of 5 stars.\u00a0 Gotta love the cover, though&#8230;..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lackey has a series called the 500 Kingdoms that has turned the traditional fairy tale type story on its ear.\u00a0 Taking those same fairy tales and twisting them through the Tradition.
